Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr. Samsudin Hitam

Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr. Samsudin Hitam aged 66, was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Maju Expressway Sdn Bhd on the 17 July 2013. He graduated in 1970 with a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. While in service with the Government, he completed his post-graduate programs, a Master in Agricultural Economics and a PhD in Land Resources from the Institute of Environmental Studies at the University of Wisconsin, USA, in 1977 and 1986, respectively.
He began his career as a Pegawai Tadbir dan Diplomatik (PTD) at the Budget Division of the Ministry of Finance in 1970. In 1986, he joined the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) as Secretary to the Economic Panel and was subsequently appointed as Director of Macro Economic Section in 1987. During the tenure in the EPU, he held various positions amongst others Deputy Director General (Sectoral)and Deputy Director General (Macro). In 1998, he was promoted to the Director General of the Economic Planning Unit, before moving back to the Ministry of Finance in June 2000 to take on the helm as the Secretary General of the Treasury.
